‘ SNL’: How poor delivery affects a speech

Early seasons of “Saturday Night Live” often spoofed then-President Gerald Ford’s gaffes and falls. Here, Chevy Chase imitates Ford with a speech delivery that goes badly. How does a speech’s delivery reflect on the speaker’s ethos? What strategies can a speaker develop to deal with situations were things may go wrong?
